Istanbul Technical University Department of Interior Architecture was founded in 2001 and commenced undergraduate education in the 2002-2003 academic year. The undergraduate program is structured within the potentials of the contemporary metropolitan condition of Istanbul as well as the rapidly developing themes of undergraduate education. The goal of the program is to give students the ability to merge scientific, technological, artistic and intellectual knowledge with the needs of the profession in general.
The Department of Interior Architecture is located in the historically and spatially rich environment of the famous Taşkışla building that stands in the city centre of Istanbul, enriching the cultural and cognitive experiences and perspectives of students. Education is centered on Design Studios which are seen as the hub of the supporting lectures and classes.
